Postvention support

In Cambridgeshire and Peterborough suicide bereavement support is provided by Lifecraft and is available for friends and families members affected by suicide in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area. For further information about the service and how to access it click here  

Suicide and Co offer individual couselling for people affected by suicide. To find out more about how to access this support and for information on how to have supportive conversations with people who have been bereaved by suicide   

Survivors of bereavement by suicide provide support groups for those affcted by suicide, facilaited by those affected by suicide. The site also contains information on how to access other resources to support people bereavement by suicide.   

Support after Suicide The Support After Suicide Partnership brings together suicide bereavement organisations and people with lived experience, to achieve a vision that everyone bereaved or affected by suicide is offered timely and appropriate support. CALM (Campaign against living miserably) provide information and support for people bereaved by suicide

For staff working with patients a guide has been developed using the results of a survey of psychiatrists who had experienced the death of a patient by suicide, evidence from the research literature and from personal experiences. It is aimed primarily at psychiatrists (from trainees to experienced consultants) and may also be helpful for other staff groups For copies of the guide click here. 

Cruse Bereavement Care supports people after the death of someone close. Their trained volunteers offer confidential face-to-face, telephone, email and website chat support, with both national and local services. They also have services specifically for children and young people.

AMPARO focuses on providing emotional and practical support for people including 

  • dealing with police and coroners
  • helping with media enquiries
  • preparing for and attending inquest
  • finding other, appropriate, local support services
