Sports stars, leading experts and personal development coaches are among a huge range of people who are speaking to staff from Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust throughout July.

They are giving masterclasses, lectures and presentations at the Trust’s Leading Together festival – a month-long event designed to encourage colleagues to focus on their professional and personal development.

There are more than 140 sessions taking place over the four weeks, and among those taking part in the online festival are Team GB Olympic gold medal-winning hockey captain Kate Richardson-Walsh, Paralympian Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, teamwork and leadership expert Professor Michael West and psychiatrist Professor Neil Greenburg who spent more than 20 years with the Armed Forces.

Claire London, Associate Director of Learning and Organisational Development (pictured), said: “There are more than 4,000 staff who work for our Trust – and all of them have been involved in dealing with the ongoing pandemic for more than a year now.

“It’s been a very trying time for everyone, and all of us have put plenty of things on hold – including our own personal and professional development.

“That learning is vital if we are to improve ourselves, the way we work, and how we work with each other and the people who require our services.

“We’ve had a tremendous response from those who are appearing from the festival and great feedback from our staff who taken part. We have even had family events with local organisations providing access to virtual zoo and museum visits.

As a Trust, we work closely with other health partners at all times including our acute hospital colleagues, so we’ve opened up some of the sessions to staff from those organisations as well – and it’s great they have been able to join us.”

Chief Executive Tracy Dowling said: “Like all NHS organisations, our staff have worked incredibly hard over the last year, and that work goes on.

“It’s crucial that we look after our staff as much as we do our patients, so the Leading Together festival has come at just the right time.

“There really is something for everyone – including sessions on leadership, resilience, innovation, health and wellbeing.

“I’m proud of how our Learning and Organisational Development Team have put together the programme for the Leading Together festival, and I know that all staff will benefit from it.”

CPFT employs more than 4,000 staff who provide community physical healthcare for older people and those with long-term conditions, mental healthcare for children and adults, children’s health services in Peterborough, learning disability support and social care support.
