Research training
Good clinical practice
This is the international ethical and scientific quality standard for the design, conduct and record of research involving people. CPFT requires all staff working on clinical trials to undertake good clinical practice training every two years.
Compliance with the 13 principles of Good Clinical Practice is a legal obligation in the UK for all trials of investigational medicinal products. It provides public assurance that the rights, safety and wellbeing of research participants are protected and respected, in line with the principles in the Declaration of Helsinki and other internationally recognised ethical guidelines. It also ensures the integrity of research data.
Clinical research skills workshop
CPFT offers training for researchers and health professionals in partnership with the University of Cambridge Department of Psychiatry. Details of training courses and resources from these sessions are provided below.
CPFT's clinical research training day (now taking place online via Zoom) is suitable for anyone who is running - or would like to set up - a clinical study. It's an excellent opportunity to learn more about the start-up process and ongoing support on offer, and will introduce you to all the key contacts to help deliver research. Suitable for PhD students, postdoctoral scientists and other clinical researchers working with CPFT, or health professionals interested in starting a research project.
The next training day will take place in 2024.
Email HSB@medschl.cam.ac.uk to reserve your place.

Please note that it is compulsory for any researchers wishing to use the HSB Clinical Suite to attend this training event within a year of starting. Places are limited so will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
