Our nurse Katherine: I went to school with Jack Grealish and he can triumph at Euros!

CPFT nurse Katherine Lynch who went to school with Jack Grealish believes he and his fellow England stars will triumph in Sunday’s Euro 2020 final.

Katherine, a senior clinical nurse at Mulberry 3, a mental health inpatient ward at the Trust’s Fulbourn Hospital in Cambridge, was in the year above the 25-year-old Aston Villa playmaker at St Peter’s School in Solihull.

She said: “Even when we were at school everyone knew he was really good at football.

“It’s been amazing to follow his career and see him doing so well.

“I just want him and the boys to bring it home on Sunday – I think England will win 2-1.”

Katherine (pictured) will be working at Mulberry 3 when the game kicks off at Wembley on Sunday night.

She and her fellow colleagues will be making it an evening to remember for the 16 patients at the ward.

Aston Villa fan Katherine said: “We have got England flags on the wall, and the patients will be able to watch it if they want.

"We’ve had all the games on, and everyone has really got into the spirit of it. Big events like this are a great way to get some community spirit on the ward.

“I will be working, but I will try and watch as best I can. It’s a moment of history.”

Rachel Wakefield, Deputy Director of Nursing, Allied Health Professions and Quality for CPFT, said: “Katherine and her colleagues at Mulberry 3 along with all of our staff at our inpatient units have been doing so much to harness the spirt of the Euros, and create a sense of togetherness on our wards.

“Across our Trust, staff will be working on Sunday but I hope they will be able to find a few minutes to watch the final and cheer England to victory.”

CPFT employs more than 4,000 staff who provide community physical healthcare for older people and those with long-term conditions, mental healthcare for children and adults, children’s health services in Peterborough, learning disability support and social care support.
